MY STORY
Why Group Travel

I’ve always had this unexplainable, undeniable desire to travel and see the world, which is slightly ironic given my personality. I’m a planner who overthinks everything and is generally pretty risk-averse. Travel is the complete opposite of that. It’s unfamiliar, unpredictable, and full of unknowns. Yet, for some reason, when it comes to travel, I’m willing to get uncomfortable to see it all.
I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. Growing up, life revolved around school and sports. Annual camping trips a few hours from home, softball tournaments in Nevada, and a family reunion in Arizona, was my first glimpses beyond home. Back then, travel looked a lot different; I never imagined the places I’d one day visit.

Life in my 20s.
When I got to college, the first thing I looked into was education abroad programs. While most of my classmates were applying for summer internships, I was laser-focused on trying to secure loans for summer abroad programs in Greece and Spain. Priorities.
I hoped this would lead to more travel, but reality set in after graduation: the market crashed, loans payments were due and adulthood happened. Doing the responsible thing, I got a job, and then spent about ten years climbing the corporate ladder in accounting. During that time, I occasionally took a vacation with my partner – only when I allowed myself to actually use my vacation days and when our schedules aligned. American hustle culture is real. Maybe it was just the places I worked, but taking time off always seemed frowned upon, or there was always “too much work to step away.”
Then my 30s hit, brining another reality check.
I was getting older, and the urge to travel returned in full force. That’s when the idea of group travel reentered the picture.
For the longest time, I pictured group travel as a big white bus of senior citizens led from city to city by a flag-waving tour leader. But after scouring the internet, I discovered many different ways to travel. Group travel it turned out, looked nothing like I had imagined.
Still, what-ifs held me back. Every year I kept buying the 365 Places to See Before You Die desk calendars and saving my top destinations. I spent too much time researching tours, opening tabs, then closing them all and going back to work.
Eventually, I got tired of daydreaming.
Figuring out who to go with then became my obstacle. Traveling with my partner wasn’t always an option. My parents and siblings don’t travel. My friends were busy building their own lives. Solo travel didn’t appeal to me. I didn’t feel young or social enough for hostels, and going alone only added to my anxiety.
I worked up the nerve to book my first trip.
I realized it wasn’t nearly as scary as I’d imagined. The first experience encouraged me to continue traveling, and by the end of 2025, I had completed 13 small-group tours with 4 different tour companies.
It’s not how I expected to travel and see the world, but it’s allowed me to travel without going alone. I’m no longer just looking at pictures or waiting for “one day”. I’m living it!
I’m incredibly grateful for my partner, who fully supports my passion for traveling. Each time I leave, he loving reminds me, “Be safe, have fun, and just don’t fall in love with anyone.”
My family, though supportive, still thinks I’m crazy for where I’ve been and for traveling with random strangers. Honestly, I do too sometimes. But I still go anyway.
My Blog’s Mission (aka my passion project)
Never did I think that one group tour would turn into many more. I never traveled with the intention of building a platform to share my story and adventures but just like travel, this is something that has just called to me to do. Up until 2026, I didn’t even have a social media, unless you consider LinkedIn social media. I’ve created this platform to inspire others to book that trip they’ve been thinking about and to finally share with my partner and family photos and insights on my adventures.
